Greek Terms Modification

  • agora: a central spot in Ancient Greek city-states, literal meaning-"gathering place" ... central of political, athletic, artistic, and spiritual life(Wikipedia)
  • arete: early Greek meaning- the act of living up to one's full potential, excellence of any kind, term can also mean "moral value" (Wikipedia)
  • polis: an Ancient Greek city-states, surrounding region under a unified government , ideal place to live(Wikipedia/About Education)
  • the year 508 BC: Klisthenis came to power, developed the foundations of the Athenian democracy with serious reforms, grants rights to all free men to decide how the states would be run, very first revolution in this year (greece-athens.com)
  • Socrates: classic Greek philosopher, one of the founders of Western philosophy, Socrates, Plato, and Aristotle were heavy hitters in philosophy (in that order), other Philosophers based their thinking on how Socrates looked at the world, "The unexamined mind is not worth living." (Wikipedia)
